Is this the worst World Cup in decades? Possibly. FIFA, scandalized by match fixing allegations, opens the tournament with more of the same. Home team Brazil gets a phantom penalty; Croatia gets bounced as a result. Then one of the tournament’s premier players, Luis Suarez of Uruguay mistakes an Georgio Chelliini for a pepperoni pizza. Uruguay advances after...
So the South Regional gets one “play-in game” while the Midwest has three?? Some of the seeds are 16s while the others are 12s and 11s? You go to games in Orlando, but you’re seeing teams playing in the West and Midwest regionals? If there’s no home field advantage, why does Syracuse ALWAYS seem to be playing in Buffalo or Albany? Or Duke/UNC...
Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks, punch line no more. That was a rout – the worst drubbing in 21 years. (Dallas throttling Buffalo 55-10 for those of you scoring at home…) We had the Broncos and the over, hitting only one of two and losing the teaser. That makes the season totals 32-20-1 in teasers, 80-25-1 overall. And so it’s back to golf...
Hey Stanford! Who’s a bigger donkey of a Cardinal? Tiger Woods or Richard Sherman? Now – because of the Seattle Socrates’ mouth the whole civilized world is rooting against the Seahawks, while the only people outside Washington state rooting for Seattle are loudmouth grungepunk casual fans. The pot smoking hippies are split down the...
That’s more like it! Without the Cincinnati Boneheads choking in the playoffs again, we went 4-0 overall and won both parleys. That brings the season totals to 31-19-1 in teasers, 77-24-1 overall. For the playoffs we are 4-2 overall, 2-1 in teasers. Let’s see if we can make the Bengals loss our only loss of the playoffs! ODDSMAKERS, THANK YOU FOR THE LATE...
Thank you Cincinnati Bengals for spitting the bit against an obviously inferior Chargers team. Four turnovers in S.D. territory while driving for scores…who did you think you were playing? Cleveland? Maybe you should stick to them – that or go home and get arrested…it’s more your speed…leave the playoffs to teams that care. Anyway that...
A 5-1 overall and 2-1 in teasers week puts the regular season totals at a highly respectable 73-22-1 overall, 29-18-1 in teasers. Warning! The lines for this week are too close! Play with care! As Rule Number One around here is “Don’t play games that you’re uncertain of” we have ONE pick for you this week. The rest are too close to call…...
While it was a lean year for sports books (and golf books in particular), former Sports Illustrated editor Kevin Cook provided us with one for the ages, a true instant classic. His new book, “The Last Headbangers,” traces the NFL from the Immaculate Reception, Franco Harris’s miraculous, last-second, shoestring catch and touchdown romp against the...
Dadgum it, Ernesto, you tarnation polecat sumbitch, you got burned last week for another 4-2 overall, but 1-2 teaser week. That brings the season totals to a still solid 68-21-1, 27-17-1 in teasers. Week 17 picks are always dangerous, as fluid and frantic as Week 1 results, so play with caution. There are still the playoffs to go! WHAT A GAME THESE GUYS PLAYED LAST...
We went 6-2 overall last week, but just 2-2 in teasers bringing the season totals to 65-18-1 overall, 26-15-1. Here’s his week’s winners before they happen! RIDE THE CHIEFS! CHIEFS +1/2 vs. colts CHIEFS-colts OVER 36.5 The Chiefs have been an ATM machine all year. Ride the Chiefs until they lose… AND UNDER THE HILL AND OVER THE HILL MY PATH HAS...
They were called “laughably uneven” the moment they were posted, and the critics are right. The 2014 FIFA World Cup groupings could not have been more unbalanced, severely handicapping Europe’s best squads while Argentina gets a red carpet trip straight to the semi-finals. And yes, most pundits think the United States’ best chance of getting...
What a clutch comeback for Ernesto the Prediction Iguana! He takes a two week vacation and the cats go .500. He comes back – BOOM! ROASTED! A perfect 4-0 overall and 2-0 in teasers, bringing the season totals to 54-15-1, 22-12-1 HOME COOKIN’! RAVENS EVEN vs. vikings BRONCOS -5.5 vs. titans The surging Ravens straight up against a limpid ViQueens team? At...
Hey everybody, Ernesto is back from his two-week vacation. Thank good news too, because the cats went just over .500 in their replacement gig. Last week in particular, Jazz went 3-1, but only 1-1 in teasers, bringing the season totals to 50-15-1 overall, 20-12-1 in teasers. But hey! A perfect score this week and we go over 2/3rds in teasers on the season. OVER EASY...
Tough week last week as guest prognosticator Navi the Cat went 3-3 overall, 1-2 in teasers. But the season totals are still a solid 19-11-1 in teasers, 47-14-1 overall. Go figure Vol. 1: The Steelers bench Ike Taylor, (who’d you think is St. Ike to the folks in Pittsburgh), gets benched and Megatron doesn’t catch a pass in the second half. Go figure Vol...
Too much candy? Too much running aorund after the kids? To many dentists appointments and tummy-aches for the kiddies? Too many vampires, zombies, and werewolves? It’s time to gorge yourself on the best NFL picks in the country! We went a perfect 4-0 overall, 2-0 in teasers last week to raise the season totals to 15-9-1 in teasers, 38-11-1 overall. Here’s...
