Week 7 NFL Picks – Jay’s Plays

That’s more like it! Our 2-1 performance in teasers and 5-1 tally overall moves us to 3-2 on the season in teasers, 7-3 overall. Pretty good considering last week was not only long on inter-conference games with unusual matchups, but also considering the NFC is putting up a surprisingly good fight against the AFC. The Patriots have now lost two games against the NFC West and they haven’t faced the 49ers.

This week we get back to the more predictable games between division or conference rivals, so as Dana Monteith would say, let’s get down to it…

GREEN LIGHT!

49ERS -1 vs. Seahawks
49ERS-Seahawks UNDER 44.5

Yes, I know the Goldiggers stank up the joint against the Jints and the Seahawks stunned the Pats, but this game is at Candlestick, and the Niners will be itching to bounce back. yes, I also know my rule about “Stay away form NFC West matchups, you don’t know what you’ll get from week to week,” but the Niners broke that mold last year by being the best team in the NFL against the spread and the NFL’s most improved team. (Along with the Lions, who are back to sucking again…)

OVERPOWERED!

PATRIOTS-Jets OVER 40
Steelers-BENGALS OVER 40

We normally prefer to play the UNDER here at AWITP by finding the great defensive teams and riding them, but occasionally if you find a really low number between two pretty good teams, (and lowering it even further), you can hit the OVER fairly easily too. The Steelers and the Bengals are down defensively this year – the Steelers because of injuries to franchise players, the Bengwads because they’re putrid. They also tend to score a lot of points when they play each other. The Pats will put up 30 on their own, maybe more.

MIX AND MATCH

Packers -1 vs. RAMS
TEXANS-Ravens over 40

Sam Bradford is a great quarterback stuck on a dreadful team. All the Pack needs to do is win the game. They have much more talent across the depth chart, but especially among starters. The Ravens are 5-1 despite having defensive problems…but Joe Flacco has that offense firing better than it’s been in a decade.
