Memo From the Sports Desk: Get organized for summer

Top ten things to look forward to as we turn the calendar to May:

10.  Tiger Woods playing at the Wachovia Championship.  (Now that he”s back on TOUR, I suppose it’s not really “news” anymore that he;s playing in a tournament.)

9.  Media Day at Bethpage Black for the U.S. Open.  I’ll be writing about the few changes to the course, the set-up and handicapping the field.

8. The Travis Invitational, one of the greatest amateur golf tournaments is America, as it turns 99 years young.  I’ll have a new poem to commemorate the event turning towards 100 next year, as well as a course review and coverage.

7.  Course reviews of Kinloch, Ballyhack, and The Old White Course at the Greenbriar.

6.  A duet with golf writer Chris Clouser on Southern Hill CC vs. Oklahoma City G&CC.

5.  Edie Silver Walker’s baby due on May 2.  I can hear all of you now…”Who’s is Edie Silver Walker?”  Well you can put down the LPGA media guide because she’s not a pro golfer.  She’s just a Trinity College mega-star from back in the day who is having a baby that the entire Bantam Extended Family can’t wait to celebrate.

4.  Interviews with at least three great architects.

3.  A write up of the McDonough Scholarship dinner and awards ceremonies, as well as reviews of the golf at Abenaqui, Nashua, and Manchester C.C.

2.  Pix of my new office in NYC, and

1.  GET READY FOR THE U.S. OPEN AT BETHPAGE BLACK.  If you’re coming, contact me, and we’ll meet up.  There will be dinners and concerts every night.  If you’re a fan, I’ll have wall-to-wall coverage:  print, radio, and TV.  Expect me when you see me.
