Jay’s Plays NFL Picks – Week 6 Betting Primer

ERNESTO OPENED THE SEASON 9-4.
ERNESTO OPENED THE SEASON 9-4.

A 4-2 showing on a particularly tough slate of games last week for Ernesto the Prediction Iguana puts him at 9-4 to start the season. Pretty good, but we’re aiming to get better still.

While – of course – we correctly picked the Cheatriots, their defense refused to let in a oh-by-the-way touchdown at the end to hit on the over. The Browns win over the Ravens was the other annoyance.

Here are this week’s winners…and when you pick up your winnings from your your man, tell him Ernesto sent you.

ROAD WARRIORS! (Home team in CAPS.)

Bengals (+6) at BILLS

Even if the Bengals don’t win outright, they have enough firepower to cover.

Redskins (+11.5) at JETS

There are some weirdos playing quarterback this year, Kirk Cousins among them, but that’s too many points to spot for a Jets team still struggling to find an identity.

UNDER ARMOR!

VIKINGS-Chiefs UNDER 50

The Vikings just don’t blow anybody out, and Chiefs star running back, and the heart of their offense, Jamaal Charles is out.

STEELERS-Cardinals UNDER 52

The Steeler offense will sputter until quarterback Ben Roethlisberger gets back. Shame, because it would have been fun to watch a shootout with the high flying Cards coming in. The Steeler defense is stiffening, but they still can get burned deep by a quarterback like Carson Palmer, who can connect better than the Chargers’ Philip Rivers.

RED ROVER, RED ROVER!

Broncos (+1.5) at BROWNS

Here’s another pick for a team on the road. And here we go again picking against the Browns after getting burned by them last week in almost exactly the same circumstances. It would seem a sexy choice to take upstart Cleveland, but the Browns are still wildly inconsistent.

BROWNS-Broncos OVER 36

36 is a small number. There should be five touchdowns between the two teams.
