Great, just great: now “Sammy the Owl” has been ejected from an NCAA baketball clash between two also-rans, Tulane vs. Rice. For those of you scoring at home, Sammy the Owl, Rice’s mascot, gave a ref too much lip after a bad call and got run.
I just think it was too much for the CBS Sports production team to give us a score crawl update with “Sammy the Owl Ejected,” complete with the Rice University logo. That’s as bad as “Chris Mortensen reports T.O. has a hangnail and a bad case of bed-head.”
Running the mascot? Yes, That’s Reedonkyoulous. But in Tulane vs. Rice, that’s probably the highlight of the game, especially with the fans all chanting “Saaaaaaaaaaaamyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.”
