U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying results

As usual, Golf Observer is on top of this.  Here are some highlights.

Monday June 4th is qualifying day for 820 players going after 83 spots. Already three players have gotten in through qualifying from Japan .

Here is a list of the other 14 sites in which players will play 36 holes to try and get a spot at Oakmont.

72 players for 9 spots

74 players for 4 spots

Florida – Jupiter Hills Club
47 players for 2 spots

Georgia – Hawks Ridge Golf Club
36 players for 3 spots

Illinois – Riverside Golf Club
45 players for 5 spots

Maryland – Woodmont Country Club
65 players for 5 spots

New York – Old Oaks Country Club & Century Country Club.

Texas – Northwood Club
30 players for 3 spots

Colorado – Columbine Country Club

Washington – Olympic Course at Golf Mountain G.C.

In England:  Nick Dougherty, Peter Hanson and Darren Fichardt led the way at 8-under 136. The other six spots went to Miguel Rodriguez, Marcus Fraser, Graeme McDowell, Sam Walker, Christian Cevaer and Soren Kjeldsen.

From New York:

Century Country Club assistant professional Frank Bensel is headed for Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club and the U.S. Open. The 39-year-old Yonkers native is tied for the clubhouse lead after shooting a 2-under par 140 today on his home course.  Geoffrey Sisk, a mini-tour player from Massachusetts, also carded a 140. Ricky Barnes, the 2002, U.S. Amateur champion, shot a 141, and took the third and final qualifying spot.
