“It will be the first U.S. Women’s Open held on Long Island and the first time the championship will be conducted in New York State since 1973. Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck hosted the 1957 and 1972 U.S. Women’s Opens and The Country Club of Rochester hosted the 1953 and 1973 championships.
In September 7-8, 2012, the Walker Cup Match will be contested at nearby National Golf Links of America in Southampton.”
