It seems rank has its privileges. Ryan Fox got away with some airport extra special care, but then again, he did just win the Open Championship.
Fox was boarding his commercial flight home when he had to ask the gate agent for permission to bring on TWO carry on items instead of one…the second being the Claret6 Jug he’d just won at Royal Birkdale. Outkick through Fox Sports has the story – you can read it here.
Manchester airport may have been the critical difference. I thought flying into Liverpool would be more convenient until Aer Lingus broke my putter on the flight out, lost my clubs on the flight home, and stranded us in Dublin for a night with no food or air conditioning. Oh well, Royal Lytham is both nearest and best of all the courses on the northwest coast.
