One of the “Five Towns Six,” Middle Bay country club op-en since 1931 closed after sustaining 3.5 million USD in damages from Hurricane Sandy. About a third of the club’s members left after Sandy. The club’s closure will put 50 employees out of work. It was scheduled to hold the U.S. Senior Open Qualifier, which will be at Garden City instead.
