Happy Anniversary to me, and a gold record to help celebrate

Today is my second anniversary as a golf writer. It’s been a good year; Associate Editor of Cybergolf, a return to the U.S. Open, my 250th public course visited and finishing the vast majority of the work on my book were highlights.

But my life as an entertainment lawyer takes center stage today. As I walked into my office from lunch on Wednesday, there’s a handful of the guys waiting for me with a package from New Jersey (we were all on the lookout all week and have waited for them to arrive for many months!)

It’s my first gold record; Bowling For Soup’s A Hangover You Don’t Deserve. We’re waiting for one more for another Bowling For Soup album as well – Drunk Enough to Dance, but after such a long wait, countless nights past 1AM in the office working, and who knows HOW MANY miles logged on the road, it all seemed worth it mounting that bad boy on the wall.

As I told the boys in the band – I’d rather have that than the Congressional Medal of Honor. It’s a Happy Anniversary, all right. Tonight, it’s off to a Jazz concert and a folk concert…after an hour on the phone with ***Name of label deleted*** closing a deal. Oh well, the reward for good work is more work!”
