Happy Anniversary, AWITP! And Thank you, Everybody

Today will mark my 8th anniversary (or 8th birthday, I can’t decide which) as a sports writer. What a ride! From a blog and a dream to the media tent at the U.S. Open! From a few on-line musings to 1.2 million readers and rising! From reading all the great writers to getting calls from them at midnight. Well as my friends Rafi and J-net (and Britt!) would say: Let me tell you something – all the short, cold, exhausted nights are still worth it.

It’s still worth bleary eyes and crispy mind to hear any one of YOU say, “Jay, you put me right in the middle of the story.”

Thank you Cybergolf! What a place to call home! I get to write for a direct descendent of Mary Shelley! street cred overload!

Thank you Sal Johnson and Golf Observer! It was you who gave me my first legit gig, an awesome one at that. Suddenly I’m on the masthead with guys on my speed dial that were once on my night stand. We sure broke ground there didn’t we? The writer page was an Al-star team, and that was back when nobody was on line!

Thank you S.I, G.M, and Time, Inc. Best golf magazine in history:)

Thanks to Tony Korologos and the Golf Space! It’s been eight years of high adventure! We sure came a long way since Blogspot, haven’t we?

Thank you Back 9 Network and Ryan Ballengee! I’m looking forward to a great run with you folks. Hey, anytime I get to hang with Ryan, my work just gets better!

Thank you PGA of America and the USGA for he great writing gigs and digs! See you for a whole slate again next year!

Thank you Marino and Tim Rosaforte, and Jaime Diaz. Dan Jenkins, Bobby Jones, Pete Dye, Jim Engh, the D.U.H. gang (that’s Doak Urbina Hanse:), Julie Z and Nancy C, and everyone else who if I had to thank nyou all personally, I’d never finish this piece…

…and I have to get moving, I owe Jeff something as we speak!

But most of all, thank you readers! When good people like you say you like my work, well I know I did something right.
