Golf Channel Calls Open Championship Return for Tiger Woods

Citing unnamed sources, Golf Channel claims that Tiger Woods will return to pro golf at the Open Championship, held this year at Royal Liverpool, where he last won the Open Championship eight years ago.

No further information was available, and neither Woods not his agent Marc Steinberg confirmed any timetable for Woods’s comeback. According to the article:

I don’t know when he intends to be playing competitively. But I expect it to be this summer,” Steinberg told ESPN.com. “I know that’s a wide range, but as the weeks go by we’ll be able to pinpoint an approximate time. It’s still a little early for that.”

Both the Open Championship and the PGA Championship are held this year on courses where Woods has won majors before. The PGA Championship will be at Valhalla Golf Club outside Louisville, Kentucky.
