Eisenhower Park Red Course rescinds walking ban, thank your golf writer friends

After weeks of harsh criticism from many golf writers throughout the greater New York Metropolitan area, Nassau County officials rescinded their unpopular policy that mndated the use of those infernal motorized huggy-buggies on the famous Red Course.  The course reverts to the old policy where carts are only mandatory on weekends.

Personally, they should rescind the weekend policy too.  A recent scientific study showed that a foursome in carts normally plays eighteen holes in four hours and fifteen minutes while the typical walking foursome takes only five minutes more.  Walking is healthier anyway.
So thank your friendly neighborhood golf writer for doing you a service and for championing tradition and common sense over making the last buck.  If so many Metropolitan area golf writers had not written and criticized the move, you’d have been saddled with $30 more in fees and not have the option to take a pleasant walk in the park.  God help us if golf should ever become a Ride in the park…as in taken for a ride.
