The first qualifier for the Potomac Cup – the Ryder Cup style matches between the best amateurs in Virginia and Maryland – is July 9th at Westfield GC in Clifton VA. To those of you that are amateurs in Maryland or Virginia, rules, applications and details are here at the official website.
You can read about the tournament history here. The second qualifier is at a pastiche course in Maryland called Renditions on July 22d.
For the second consecutive year, the finals will be held at the Pete Dye designed Mystic Rock course at the opulent Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. The Western Pennsylvania Resort, which provides a neutral site for the matches, was the site of the now NLE 84 Lumber Classic.
By the way, for those of you scoring at home, “NLE” is industry-speak for “No Longer Exists.”
