Skiing History Magazine Runs my Story on the Birth of Skiing at the Patagonian Jewels of Argentina, Bariloche and Catedral

MIGHTY CERRO CATEDRAL, THE GREATEST AND ELDEST OF ARGENTINA’S SKI RESORTS, DEEP IN PATAGONIA

What an honor – my first story in Skiing History, the official publication of the International Skiing History Association, Viva Catedral.

It was the ski trip of a lifetime. Huge shout out to Aaron Scorsch and Savor the Journey, the athletic and culinary outfit I hooked up for my ten day Patagonian sojourn. Shortly, I’ll publish my Mountain Gazetteer review of both Catedral and nearby Chapelco, the greenest ski resort in the world, run entirely on their own, in-house solar generated energy.

My Catedral review is on deck next, and the Chapelco piece is for Ski Area Management, but today, it’s the venerable, illuminating Skiing History. This magazine is the scholarly journal, the grande dame. It’s editor Seth Masia is nothing short of genius as a mentor and his contacts and recall are unparalleled in perhaps any milieu, not just winter sports. All the greats have written for him, and to study at his elbow is to learn the pinnacle of journalistic skill, as well as have both his encyclopedic knowledge and innumerable contacts on hand. Thank you, Seth, and thank you Ruben and Vicente, Roberto, Oswaldo, and everyone else in the piece. Viva, Argentina, and thank you for beating France inĀ  the World Cup.

Enjoy the article, and see you from the top of Cerro Catedral shortly…
