Jeff Brauer’s Sand Creek Station Gets 2014 USGA Public Links

Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan., has been selected by the United States Golf Association to host the 2014 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. The dates of the championship are July 14-19.

“We are very excited about taking the Amateur Public Links Championship to Sand Creek Station,” said Bill McCarthy, director of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship for the USGA. “The golf course will present a terrific test for these elite players and I have no doubt that the city of Newton will roll out the red carpet to make it a great experience.”….The course hosted the 2008 and 2009 Wichita State University Ladies Fall Classic, and in 2012 it will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Men’s Division I National Championship and the Kansas Golf Association’s State Amateur Championship.

The U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship was established in 1922….The 2012 Amateur Public Links will be conducted July 9-14 at Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway, Utah, while the 2013 championship will be conducted July 15-20 at Laurel Hill Golf Course in Lorton, Va.
