Happy Anniversary to me – 11 Years as a Sports Writer

IT'S JAY'S 11TH ANNIVERSARY AS A SPORTS WRITER
IT’S JAY’S 11TH ANNIVERSARY AS A SPORTS WRITER

It was 11 years ago today that I started with a blog and a dream and two Internet friends – Marvin Beatty and Tony Korologos. Seven months later I was at the U.S. Open, my first of 11 straight.

It’s been a terrific run, one which we look forward to continuing at Golf News Net and on the Jay’s Plays radio show. We’re going to be rolling out a whole new look to JayFlemma.com, striating our work by sports and topic: A Walk in the Park (TM) for golf, Facewash Magazine (TM) for hockey, the Sack Dance (TM) for football, etc.

In keeping with tradition, we’ll have a long anniversary article for you at the end of the week. We’ll touch more on pop culture than sports, and go all Chuck Klosterman in a rock music retrospective of the year.

But no matter where I go, what I write, or who I meet, it’s YOU, the reader, that I love the most. It may be fun writing in an empty room, but it’s the best wicked pissah of all when you guys tell me you read it and loved it. So thank you…from my driver to my putter and all the clubs in between. I raise a glass to you, and toast your loyalty.

It’s Chinaco reposado neat, for those of you scoring at home…
