GRANBY, CO – For the second consecutive year, the North American Snowsports Journalists will be hosting their webinar and lecture on the intersection of ethics and sports journalism. The broad ranging event will hit nearly every topic crucial to a journalist’s interactions with professional athletes, amateur athletes, scandals in sports, sports doping and steroids, legal issues, and more. Conducted by Zoom and available to not only all members of NASJA but to the winter sports world at large for free, the event will air live on January 30, 2025 at 7pm EST.
Second Vice President of NASJA Jay Flemma will reprise his role as moderator of the panel and deliver some opening remarks. If Attorney Flemma holds true to form he will like highlight Jim Lehrer’s Rules of Journalism as the starting point for the discussion. The four panelists will then share their own stories and experiences from covering events in the media center to the Olympics and beyond. Filip Bondy of the New York Daily News and Anne Galloway, emeritas writer for the Vermont Digger return. Bondy has covered events across the globe for the NY Daily News including Winter Games for three different Olympiads. Galloway broke one of the biggest scandals in sports history with her coverage of the EB-5 scandal that rocked Vermont and involved fabled and popular Jay Peak.
This year’s newcomers are equally well-decorated and celebrated. Hank Gola of the N Y Daily News won a Golden Quill for excellence in sports writing in 2018 and has won 10 additional first place awards from the Golf Writers Association of America over the course of his illustrious career. Mike Vaccaro of the NY Post rounds out the star-studded, powerhouse line-up. Vaccaro grew up dreaming of being a sports writer, and now he’s an indispensable daily read on nearly every sport the paper covers.
