Has Michelle Wie tabled the PGA Tour for now?

According to an article in The Australian, Michelle Wie’s swing coach David Leadbetter implies Michelle has not got any men’s events planned for the moment.

This is a wise decision for Michelle.  She was clearly overmatched.  She can concentrate on learning how to close out tournaments and winning.  She has plenty of talent, so I fully expect she should win a great deal of events…probably soon and often.  She has been remarkably close in many high profile events.  The more she wins on the LPGA tour, the more she will earn the chance to come back and try again later.  I wonder how much this decision was influenced by her wrist injury?  Is it possible that people now see that she could have hurt her career for a long time by building up her body too fast in the attempt to make a cut?
Most importantly, the integrity of the Tours is protected as well.  Now openings in tourneys go to people who earn them.  Golf is the ultimate meritocracy.  It may be the only pure game left in that respect.

Good decision, Michelle.  I look forward to watching you battle it out with Paula Creamer and Morgan Pressel and Lorena Ochoa for years to come.  Now that’s compelling golf, people!
