Phil Wins, Great Stat About Ten at Riviera

So Phil blew a four shot lead, but won the L.A. Open at stately, old Riviera, coming from two back to pull it off, and making Steve Stricker’s walk to the range irrelevant. Here’s Doug Ferguson’s story for the AP, via Fox Sports.

Meanwhile, Shackelford found a great CBS Sports graphic about how you have the play conservatively on ten.  In the last six years on this 285-305 par-4, (really a par-3.5):

Tee shots on green:  59/1484, (3.9%);

Avg. Second shot length:  51 yards, (so tee shots are 235-265…a 4-iron or hybrid for the pros)

Greens in reg from left rough:  71%, (188-under);

Greens in reg from RIGHT rough:  38%, (14-over); and

Total Eagles: 18/1484 (between one and two percent. Ouch).
