North American Snowsports Journalists Association to Convene, Party at New Hampshire’s Black Mountain

CLASSIC TWISTY, WOODED NEW ENGLAND TRAILS AWAIT YOU AT NEW HAMPSHIRE’S BLACK MOUNTAIN.

BOISE, ID – NASJA, the North American Snowsports Journalists Association, will host a meeting and party at New Hampshire’s Black Mountain March 8-10, 2026. This marks one of the first times since Covid that snowsports writing’s most historic and venerable body will hold an on-mountain confab. NASJA brass and rank-and-file members have all been eager to increase the number of yearly get-togethers. And the opportunity to support the grass-roots resurrection of Black Mountain provided a ready-made, feel-good story to shine the Sportlight on as brightly as we all collectively can.

Black Mountain has been rescued from NLE (No Longer Exists) status, saved by white knight Indy Pass. This long-time local mountain had a strong regional following from Boston to Baltimore and from Portsmouth to Peoria, attracting both expert athletes and savvy industry pros as repeat business weekend after weekend and season after season. [Author’s Note:  We’ll save the resurrection story for when we visit in March as part of our Border War series.]

In addition to two ski days where the general public can meet and greet the media, NASJA members will have a meeting – whether it will serve as the 2026 Annual Meeting is yet to be determined. Two more cvents are not to be missed:  first Sam Weintraub of the killer YouTube winter sports and hiking site Peak Rankings will be hosting the monthly NASJA Professional Development seminar. He’ll be presenting on his strength – how to become a YouTube phenom. While Weintraub’s time slot is TBD, Yours Truly’s VJ set will be 5:30-8:30 on 3/9 in the ski chalet. (Word is that there may be a special added surprise set the night before at the adjacent inn, so inquire with me ir your friendly neighborhood skiing writer.

Then Your Author will transmogrify into his video disc jockey alter ego, VJ Q, and light up Black Mountain like the Fourth of July. Minds. Blown. Guaranteed.
