We’ll have more on this story as it develops, but the U.S.G.A. announced today the CordeValle, a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. resort course in Northern California, will host the 2016 U.S. Women’s Open.
“It means ‘Heart of the Valley” and it sits right in a valley in the midst of the golden, rolling hills of California,” said Jones. “There are many interesting, strategic holes that should give players choices. Hopefully they will give the ladies a chance to drive the green on the short par-4 8th hole, which is between 250 and 350 yards. There’s also a classic Redan at 12. You have to use thew kickplate on the right to access the flag.”
The Women’s Open starts today at Sebonack Golf Club on Long Island. Other future venues include Pinehurst No. 2 in 2014, Lancaster Country Club in 2015, and Trump Bedminster in 2017.
