Trevor Immelman Masters Dinner Menu

Since he’s South African, reigning Masters champ Trevor Immelman regaled past champions and Masters officials with a local menu.  Once again, just pray a Scot doesn’t win.  As Dan Jenkins once wrote:  Shoot the Haggis…”some people like tripe in their haggis, some do not.  I’ve included it.”  That’s right after she described adding the “finely sliced heart.”

And you wonder why lots of guys ate bar steaks…at the bar that night…thank you Sandy Lyle.

Anyway, Immelman served “South African Spinach Salad” with goat cheese, black olives, avocado and sprouts, “babotie” (a curried meat – beef or lamb – with fruit and yellow rice, chicken kabobs called “sosaties” and Milk tart (melktert).  Not bad, although I’d say paella might be more festive – so come on Spaniards…

Perhaps a lot of people are rooting for Padraig…Guinness stew!

On a heavier, but more inspiring note, Jose Maria Olazabal read a note from Seve Ballesteros, who is fighting cancer, and who’s kind wishes in the letter evoked memories of his swashbuckling wins, gallant demeanor, and didn’t leave a dry eye in the house.  Here’s Jim Corrigan’s account.
