If it’s the day after Thanksgiving, then it must be time for our annual Jazzy Awards to start the holiday season! As usual, we kick off with the Turkey of the Year, where we celebrate the ludicrous, lunatic lunkheads and lugnuts that have ruined the sports year.
As always, we do this feature in conjunction with our buddy and colleague Tony Korologos of Hooked on Golf, who does his in a top ten list. So go check out his list afterwards.
This year, we agree! The Turkey of the Year in Sports is golf’s boor-in-chief Steve Williams, the bag ape who never knows when to have a nice hot cup of shut the hell up. It was bad enough we he took credit for Adam Scott’s win at the Bridgestone this year – “It was the best win of my career” – but then he out Stevied Stevie by saying in front of every caddie in the house that he was glad to [racial slur not printed] in a further attempt to embarass Woods.
I’m checking back with you now. How did that turn out?
I could quote chapter and verse from myriad sources about his years of high crimes and misdemeanors on Tour, but the best line came from a caddie who spoke on condition of anonymity:
“We always knew he was an idiot, but we never knew he was a racist idiot.”
How hard do you have to try to make Tiger Woods look like a sympathetic figure? Pretty damn hard. Congrats Stevie. You are golf’s public enemy number 1. Adam Scott – he’s all yours…
