Royal Troon to get 2016 Open Championship?

Hat tip to Niall Carlton for keeping his ear to the ground and doing some sleuthing worthy of Sherlock himself: We may son get the formal announcement that Royal Troon will host the 2016 Open Championship.

After all the excitement of Rio and Doral, one wonders if Castle Stuart might get a nod some time:):)

Future British Open Venues:

2012 – Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s, Blackpool, Lancashire, ENGLAND

2013 – Muirfield Golf links, Gullane, East Lothian, SCOTLAND

2014 – Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, Merseyside, ENGLAND

2015 – The Old Course at St. Andrews, St. Andrews, Fife, SCOTLAND

2016 – Royal Troon, SCOTLAND

Carnoustie and Birkdale look to be the likely candidates for 2018. Nothing would make me happier to see Royal Liverpool scrapped and the open return to Northern Ireland. That is if Trump Aberdeen doesn’t replace St. Andrews as the Home of Golf.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
