So it’s off to Nemacolin Woodlands in southwest Pennsylvania for the year’s best team event – The Potomac Cup – Maryland vs. Virginia, the best amateur champions from each state duking it out in a three-day Ryder Cup-style heavyweight bout. It’s a six hour drive across the PA woodlands, the forest deepening the closer I get to journey’s end, before the resort suddenly dominates the skyline and I unpack in my three-bedroom villa across from the zebra paddock of the zoo and the 16th tee of their second golf course.
See everyone from Farmington tomorrow night. As Reed Waddle says (click here for the whole song):
There’s a song comin’ down the Interstate Highway
Like the sound of a ragtime radio
Keepin’ one eye in the rear view, the other on the road
Welcome to the travelin’ show
Prediction: Maryland 20 Virginia 18
