Masters results day 1: who scares Woods?

With the free fall of the game’s top names, this is set to be a Tiger walk.  Phil and Ernie?  They’ll be lucky if they make the cut, although with the few red numbers being posted, the cut will be shockingly high too.  After that, look at that leaderboard.  I dare you, I double dare you…

I triple dog dare you, find me one name that scares Woods or will hold him off.  David Howell?  Tim Clark?  They’ll melt like an ice sculpture left out on a May day.  They may hang around till Saturday, but who can follow Woods when he gives it the gas?  Davis Love?  Not a chance?  David Toms?  Please.  Olazabal?  The media keep trying to sell this milquetoast guy to us as the greatest short game player since Tom Watson simply because he won two green jackets back in the doldrums, but he won’t be a factor at all.

Henrik Stensen?  He’s he best hope.  After that Padraig Harrington, Geoff Ogilvy and Vijay…maybe Furyk, but he’s already three back, maybe more by day’s end.

No, Woods is right where he wants to be, already ahead of any relevent challengers.  Precious few people behind Woods are capable of overtaking him.  Now he’ll just blow over the house of cards tomorrow and Saturday and that will be that.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  Boy this is compelling golf.

He’ll get his slam too.  The Open is at Oakmont.  Tiger wins where Jack won.
