Jay’s Plays NFL Picks – Week 16 Predictions and Bettor’s Guide

TORREY THE PREDICTION CAT MAKES HIS FIRST APPEARANCE IN THIS COLUMN AS A PROGNOSTICATOR.

was an up-and-down week for Faith the Prediction Cat subbing in for Ernesto the Prediction Iguana. She went 5-3 on the week, 1-3 in teasers, winning with the Chiefs (6-1 for us this year), the Ravens (3-0 for us), and the Saints (6-1). She lost with the Patriots (7-3 for us this season) and the Dolphins (0-1). She was 2-1 in OVER/UNDERS. The season totals drop to 50-24, 21-16 in teasers.

Faith has had a good run in her various starts over the three years she’s been a part of the team, (44-14 overall, 17-12 in teasers), but we’re going to try out the new guy. Promoted from his position of research assistant, Torrey the Prediction Cat will pass the clipboard to Faith, buckle the chin strap and make his first predictions. As Captain Jack Aubrey said to Tom Pullings when Pullings asked if someone was ready for promotion, “Were you? Was I?”

So here’s this week’s winners before they happen, courtesy of the rookie! As always, we do 2-team teasers here, so we can move the line six points either way. We use the lines from www.vegasinsider.com, HOME TEAM IN CAPS.

GREEN LIGHT!

EAGLES +9.5 vs. texans
CHARGERS-ravens OVER 39

Two excellent offenses will meet in L.A. with division titles on the line for each team. Should be a track meet, an especially exciting one with the emergence of Lamar Jackson. The Eagles are at home and getting more than a touchdown? That’s a bargain all day long!

HOME COOKIN’!

COWBOYS -1 vs. buccaneers
PATRIOTS -5 vs. bills

Which Dallas team is going to show up? Does it matter? The Cowboys are 6-1 at home. The YucK-aneers are 16 on the road! Meanwhile, the Pats will bounce back one week late against a Bills team that could only just beat the Lions…barely…

NFC NORRIS

LIONS-vikings OVER 37.5
bears +2.5 at 49ERS

37.5 is low, even though both offenses can sputter. Still, it is indoors. Meanwhile the Chicago could beat the 49ers with Yu Darvish at QB.
