It was another banner week for Ernesto the Prediction Iguana as the Lions win last night earned him a 5-1 weekly slate (2-1 in teasers) and swelled his season record to a sterling 23-7 overall (10-5 in teasers). The lone loss was the Chiefs, who looked so good headed into halftime after Tyreek Hill turned a pass over the middle into a playground ball TD as the gun sounded. The Cowboys showed some real mettle last week coming back from that, although not as much as the Eagles, who we said weeks ago ought to lock horns with the Rams in the playoffs, maybe even the NFC Title game. Put up your hand, by the way, if your pre-season NFC division winners were Eagles, Saints, Rams, Vikings…
Oh…and by the way…did you just ask me to trade Tom Brady?
Anyway, here’s this week’s winners before they happen. As always, we do teasers here, so you get to move the line six points in either direction, using lines from www.vegasinsider.com, HOME TEAM IN CAPS.
COLTS-steelers UNDER 50.5
JAGUARS +1.5 vs chargers
The Steelers defense is peaking and the offense has enough firepower to win, but seven touchdowns is asking a lot fro two teams with red zone problems. The Jags are the big surprise thus far in the AFC. Let’s hope Leonard Fournette has his tantrum out of his system.
RAMS-texans over 41
BILLS-saints over 41
All we can say about the rams is that they didn’t turn the clock back an hour, they turned it back to 2000. Jared Goff looks like Kurt Warner. Meanwhile, the Saints and Bills have plenty of fireworks to cover a shockingly low over/under line.
CARDINALS-seahawks UNDER 48.5
REDSKINS-vikings UNDER 48.5
The Seahawks aren’t thegreatest road team, and the Cardinals have been flaccid all year. Meanwhile, the Redskins found their big-time defense last week in time to supports an inconsistent offense. Look for a lot of field goals and punts when the Vikings comee to town.
