Happy Birthday to AWITP – Six Happy Years

It’s my six-year anniversary as a golf writer. Six years ago today, I took the advice of Jeff Solomon, Alex Zalben, and Stefan Lawrence and started this blog.

Seven months later, I went to the U.S. Open as the first true blogger to cover a major sporting event. Who-da thunkit!

Since then, it’s been a dozen majors, another few hundred golf courses, and three new laptops. It’s been a wild ride, bumpy at times, stressful at others, but I’m ever so grateful and my life so much more enriched by all the Great Friends of Golf I have met along the way, from writers to players to architects to industry folks to the rank and file golfer and golf fan…and that means YOU!

Thank you all for every kind word, every bit of encouragement, and all the laughs. Especially big “thank yous” go to Jeff Shelley of Cybergolf, Sal Johnson of Golf Observer, Tony Korologos of the Golf Space/Hooked on Golf, David Clarke and Kevin Cook of Golf Magazine/Sports Illustrated, and Marino Parascenzo. Another big thank you goes to Ran Morrissett, Ben Cowen-Dewar, and all the guys at Golf Club Atlas.

We’ll be back with more golf course reviews and travel articles, tour commentary, and Old School Wisdom. In the meantime, here’s a song to celebrate our birth-i-versary. See you all soon.
